Where's Jacob?

Jacob decided to place all of his stuffed animals on the chair in his room and lest they be lonely without him, he would say "up" so mommy could put him on the chair as well.

Daddy's Little Helper

Jacob is a good little helper! With a little assistance, he watered the flowers in the front of the house. Good job Jacob!

Can you imagine an amusement park for 2 and 3 year olds? Jacob loved it!

We decided to go to Happy Hollow Amusement Park in San Jose so Jacob could get some wiggles out before we spent 5+ hours on a plane the next morning. He got to ride on 2 different carousels, a bug, a car, and a train. He loved it!

Yosemite is beautiful! We are already looking forward to going back again one day when Jacob is a little bit older and we can all hit the trails together.

We enjoyed bicycling around Yosemite Valley. The views were spectacular.

We had a wonderful view of the Yosemite Valley.

Yosemite, California

This is the largest tree in the world (by volume). We found out that the redwoods on the coast get much taller but are smaller in diameter than these giants inland.

The park ranger was teaching Jacob about the trees by letting him touch a pine branch and cone. Minutes later as we were walking back to the car, one of the huge pine cones crashed to the ground about fifteen feet in front of us!

This is one of two tunnel trees that we were able to visit, one here in Sequoia National Park and the other in Yosemite. There are at least two others in Yosemite that we didn't get to see.

The sugar tree pine's cones were almost as BIG as Jacob! What is surprising is that the cones from the giant redwoods are only about 3" in length.

The sequoia redwoods in the Sequoia National Park are the most impressive trees I have ever seen. They get as large as 300 feet tall and 30 feet in diameter. We were so impressed that we brought home a little sequoia for our very own yard. I don't know how well it will do in the Kentucky humidity but we will see...

Jacob really enjoyed going down the slides and climbing around the playground equipment. He even walked across a really long swinging bridge at the Dennis the Menace Playground in Monterey.

Carmel by the Sea was a beautiful, quaint little town with a wonderful white sand beach and a terrific view of the Pebble Beach golf course.

Jacob loved touching the various sea creatures at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Jacob wasn't sure what to make of the sand and cold water at first but when it came time to leave, he put up quite a fight. I guess you could say that he liked it...

Pebble Beach, California

The 17 mile drive through Pebble Beach was beautiful.

The world's "crookedest street" was a challenge to drive down.

Jacob loved riding the carousel at Pier 39. He kept asking and signing for more every time the music would slow down or stop.

Our visit to Alcatraz was quite interesting and quite a deterrent to crime - those cells are very small!

California Trip - San Francisco

We enjoyed riding on a trolly while sight seeing in San Francisco. It turned out to be "Save the Air Day" so there was no fee on any of the public transportation buses, trolly cars, street cars, etc.
